Rockstar Games has announced exciting news for GTA 5 players. The company has confirmed that users playing the game on older platforms will soon be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and enhanced PC versions at no additional cost. The announcement comes ahead of a major GTA Online update and a brand-new Heist mission scheduled to arrive in July.
Free Upgrades for PS4 and Xbox One Players
Starting June 19, owners of the PlayStation 4 and digital Xbox One versions of GTA 5 will be eligible to claim the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S editions free of charge. The upgraded versions will feature enhanced graphics, performance improvements, Story Mode and GTA Online progress transfers, Career Progress rewards, Hao’s Special Works upgrades, and several other next-generation features.
Rockstar has also shared good news for PC gamers. Players using the GTA 5 Legacy Edition will receive free access to the Enhanced PC Version. In addition to the improvements found on current-generation consoles, the PC edition will include advanced visual technologies such as Ray-Traced Ambient Occlusion and Global Illumination, delivering a more immersive gaming experience.
Furthermore, GTA+ subscribers will now be able to access GTA 5 Story Mode through the GTA+ Games Library alongside GTA Online.
GTA Online: The Kortz Centre Heist Launches in July
Alongside the upgrade announcement, Rockstar has revealed new details about GTA Online: The Kortz Centre Heist. Scheduled to launch in July, the mission will take players to the Pacific Bluffs district of Los Santos, where they must steal valuable artwork from the prestigious Kortz Centre through a multi-stage operation.
To take part in the Heist, players will need to own an Art Studio Expansion within a Mansion Property. Before carrying out the mission, crews must gather intelligence, scout the location, and carefully plan both their entry and escape routes.
Bonus Rewards and Special Offers
According to Rockstar, the weeks leading up to the update will feature a variety of special GTA Online events. Players can earn bonus GTA$ rewards, enjoy discounts on selected in-game items, and collect rare rewards through the Fine Art Collector Programme.
GTA+ members will also receive discounts of up to GTA$2,000,000 on Mansion Properties. In addition, players can take advantage of a limited-time offer that grants a 40 percent bonus GTA$ on Shark Card purchases.
Rockstar has confirmed that GTA Online: The Kortz Centre Heist will launch in July for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. With free upgrades, fresh content, and attractive rewards on the way, the update is shaping up to be a major event for GTA 5 players.
