Users waiting for Apple’s next-generation Apple TV and HomePod mini may not have to wait much longer, but recent reports suggest the company is holding back the launch until key Siri and Apple Intelligence features are ready.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, development of the new Apple TV and HomePod mini hardware has already been completed. The devices are reportedly being used internally by employees at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters. Despite the hardware being ready for production, Apple is said to have delayed the launch in order to align it with upcoming software enhancements.

The report states that Apple originally intended to unveil both devices alongside upgraded versions of Siri and Apple Intelligence. However, repeated delays in these software developments have pushed back the launch schedule of the new products. The updates are now expected to arrive later this year.

The upcoming Apple TV is expected to feature a more powerful processor designed to deliver better overall performance and a smoother user experience. The current Apple TV, introduced in 2022, runs on the A15 Bionic chip, and the new model is likely to address some of the performance limitations of the existing hardware.

Major design changes are not anticipated. Reports suggest Apple could introduce a refreshed Siri Remote, while the set-top box itself may retain a design similar to the current generation. This indicates that Apple’s focus is likely to be on internal upgrades rather than a complete redesign.

The HomePod mini is also expected to receive a significant hardware refresh. The smart speaker, reportedly codenamed B525, may feature a new chipset capable of supporting Apple’s latest AI-powered features more efficiently.

The upgrade is considered important because the current HomePod mini still relies on the S5 chip, which debuted nearly seven years ago. A newer processor would allow the device to better support advanced Siri functionality and future Apple Intelligence capabilities.

Reports also indicate that Apple is preparing a broader refresh of its smart home product lineup. In addition to the new Apple TV and HomePod mini, the company is believed to be working on a smart home hub equipped with a built-in display and facial recognition technology.
