Samsung is preparing to introduce its Android 17-based One UI 9 alongside its next-generation Galaxy foldable smartphones. Ahead of the official launch, the company appears to be expanding internal testing of the new software to more Galaxy devices.

According to recent reports, internal One UI 9 test firmware has been spotted for the Samsung Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 in South Korea. Both smartphones originally launched with Android 14-based One UI 6.1.

One UI 9 Internal Development Begins for Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35

According to tipster Tarun Vats, Samsung has uploaded internal One UI 9 test firmware for the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 to its servers in South Korea.

The reported firmware versions are:

  • Galaxy A55: A556SKU9EZG8 / A556SSKC9EZG8 / A556SKSU9EZG8
  • Galaxy A35: A356NKU9EZG2 / A356N0KR9EZG2 / A356NK0U9EZG2

Although the appearance of internal firmware does not guarantee an imminent public beta or stable release, it does indicate that Samsung is actively developing the Android 17-based One UI 9 update for these mid-range Galaxy smartphones.

Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 Will Receive Another Major Android Upgrade

Even after receiving the One UI 9 update, both the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 will remain eligible for one more major Android OS upgrade.

The two smartphones were launched in India in May 2024 with Android 14-based One UI 6.1. Samsung has promised four generations of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates, ensuring long-term software support for both devices.

One UI 9 Beta Already Available for the Galaxy S26 Series

The beta program is currently available in the following countries:

  • India
  • South Korea
  • Germany
  • Poland
  • United Kingdom

Eligible users can enroll in the beta program through the Samsung Members app.

Stable One UI 9 Expected at the July 22 Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung has already previewed several new One UI 9 features, although the software is still under development. As a result, additional features could be introduced, while some existing ones may be modified or removed before the stable release.

The company is widely expected to unveil the stable version of One UI 9 during the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, alongside its next-generation foldable smartphones.

However, Samsung has not yet confirmed when the stable Android 17-based One UI 9 update will begin rolling out to older Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35, and other eligible smartphones.
