Samsung’s next-generation foldable smartphone lineup is expected to launch next month, and new leaks continue to reveal fresh details ahead of the official announcement. According to recent reports, the company could introduce both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. While the Ultra variant is expected to retain a design similar to its predecessor, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 may feature a noticeably wider inner display.

A new leak suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could become one of the lightest book-style foldable smartphones on the market. The report also hints at improvements to the display crease and reveals a possible sale date for Samsung’s upcoming foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Could Stand Out With Its Lightweight Design

According to tipster Lanzuk on Naver, people who have reportedly had hands-on experience with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 described its weight as “unbelievable.” The tipster claims that the phone’s lightweight design could be one of its biggest selling points.

Although the exact weight has not been revealed, earlier reports suggest the device could weigh around 201g. If true, it would be considerably lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which weighs 215g and is already regarded as one of the lightest book-style foldable smartphones currently available.

The leak also claims that Samsung has improved the display, particularly around the foldable crease. The company is reportedly using a thicker layer of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG), which could make the crease less noticeable while improving the display’s overall durability.

Possible Sale Date Tipped

In another post, the same tipster claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could go on sale starting August 7, while pre-reservations are expected to begin on August 4.

Earlier reports have suggested that Samsung may unveil its new foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22 in London. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series during the same event.

Expected Specifications

According to recent leaks, both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also rumored to feature a dual rear camera setup with two 50-megapixel sensors.

The foldable smartphone is further tipped to pack a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W wired fast charging, offering improved battery life along with faster charging speeds.

Samsung has not officially confirmed any of these details so far. As with all pre-launch leaks, the final specifications, pricing, launch timeline, and availability could change when the devices are officially announced.
